( — them. the retort is cut off by the sudden loss of connection with the ground, and kirma’s ears fly up in clear shock at being lifted. it’s a bit silly, perhaps. the move had hardly come out of nowhere, but there is a difference between expectation and action, a gap that he hadn’t quite bridged.

surprise aside, he does remember the instructions and doesn’t go limp. it’s possible that he’s overcorrecting a little too far in the opposite direction, though. his body tenses, and as rin progresses in the foldening, it only gets worse, shoulders unconsciously rising from coiling muscle. he isn’t trying to fight against it, and thus it doesn’t amount to much resistance at all. it’s just a clear measure of discomfort, of some kind or another. )

I think, I get the idea?

( which kind it is might be a little more obvious now, with the unintentional lift in his voice that so perfectly mirrors the position they’re in. flustered, he can no longer make eye contact with her smile; one hand comes up to cover his mouth, as if that helps any. it’s… probably a little late to hope this doesn’t awaken anything in him, huh. )

[Tohsaka hesitates. As if mulling over whether or not she'll hear out his request in earnest. After a few moments a sigh escapes her lips, something intended to be long-suffering but mostly just for show, and she lets him down. Sliding his back against the wall until his legs are firmly and properly on the ground. Though she doesn't let poor Kirma have his personal space back just yet.]

If I had gone with "pretzel" you might have needed a visit to the Broken Wing.

( spoken as though it were rin doing the favor by coming up here, and as though she had gotten nothing in return for it. as far as exchanges of goods and services go— does this count as the latter, even— this might be the strangest one he's done thus far in the casino. strange, but not terrible. making no move to fight for that personal space, either, his head inclines back towards the kitchen. )

Well. I won't make you do it every time you come by. ( rin would just be a chiropractor, by that point. )

[She's genuinely shocked that he'd say that after... everything, really. It shows on her face, and she even takes a half-step back away from Kirma.]

Are you expecting me to come back and just use your kitchen like it's a rent-a-stove?

( was it really that strange of an assumption? it's clear that he doesn't have any qualms with the idea; one ear tilts, and his eyes flick to the rent-a-stove in question. )

If it's a business, you'll need to keep doing it, won't you?

( and he shrugs, a little. it's not as if he's getting anything out of it, so if she'd rather cut and run, it's not as though that's an issue either— not once does it occur to him that the lack of benefit on his end might read as suspicious, confusing. such it is, being a dog. )

No. I only work transactionally. Charity is for people shameless enough to believe they'll never have any obligation to pay back.

( his tone is mild, not insulting; it's more akin to the same idle commentary that someone would make about the weather, to point out the state of something that evokes no particular feeling at all. so does his head tilt, giving rin another sweeping look of consideration. )

It's not as though obligations matter much, in a place like this. ( so... ) It's fine.
