My Self-Summary
His name is Kirma and he’s illiterate. I’m helping him fill this out, but honestly speaking, it’s a complete waste. Besides that, don’t you think his rank is unfairly high? Even though it’s still in the single digits, it’s not as if he wouldn’t be at home in the basement levels. If someone could send my complaints along to the house, I’d appreciate it.
Surviving?
Chasing sticks. Eating absurd quantities of garbage. Fouling up perfectly nice beds. Trampling flowers.
Meat.
Someone skilled at training dogs.

[The attention of the room swung onto them, now was not a good time to indulge the mutt in his successful scenting, if ever. It's perhaps a miracle that he seems self-preserving enough to swallow the name down halfway, and Matoba wonders if it's really because he understands the implications of the situation they're in, or if it's some other, much more stupid reason.]
[You have to understand. He's been dealing with a lot of large, brainless men recently.]
I see. So we have met before? [Dryly, her fingers flex, thumb rubbing across the texture of the net in her hand. A feline-like tic, dreaming of evisceration.] You'll have to forgive me. I have made so many acquaintances lately that they... slip my mind, sometimes.
[He's wagging. Why, Matoba agonizingly wonders, is he wagging?]

for matoba to scheme and dress up and play the soft, purring manipulator under a new identity surely indicates that kirma shouldn’t be taking his words at face value; alas, that’s the only way he knows how to take them. )
It wasn’t the best of circumstances.
( to put it mildly. but still, shouldn’t seeing each other’s butts count for more, in this day and age? sex casino or not, he can’t say that about everyone he’s met here. )
If anything, I owe you an apology. I couldn’t read the— ( urgh. ) … I didn’t realize it was an invitation for two.

[Thus, KuroMisa's brow flexes in consternation, a sigh gently fluttering the veil in front of her face.]
That, I can agree on, [She mutters, just slightly under her breath. Turning slightly to glance with her good eye over her shoulder at the expanse of the lounge, she gauges whether the room still has its attention on them; eyes are starting to turn away again. Maybe she can escape with this fool none the wiser, to someplace where they could speak a little more freely.]
[To Kirma's benefit, at least Matoba mentally fills in the rest of his statement as couldn't read the room, rather than the reality. Slipping off of the stool, Misa crooks a teasing finger to invite him to walk with her.]
Let us fix that, then- shall we? And find somewhere a little quieter. [With fewer prying eyes and ears. She casts a glance across the room, to that pink head again.] ...If you are able to.

but the invitation has his ears perking back up, at least. he’s not a difficult man to please, after all, at least not on such a superficial level like this. his eyes follow kuromisa’s gaze across the lounge, and while there’s a brief grimace, he pointedly turns his back towards the card tables as he rises to his feet. )
It’s fine.
( he doesn’t know for a fact that esi’s over there trying to bet years off of his life, but he also doesn’t think that his presence is truly necessary. not here, anyway. like, how many assassins are spending their time in the sex resort? )
Lead the way. ( obedient dogs follow. )

[Catching the grimace, Matoba hides a smirk- wondering what the relationship was between these two individuals, not in business, but personally. Kirma's initial appraisal had been dismissive enough, but more and more it begins to sound like obligation coloring a more tumultuous pair. Interesting. Perhaps he ought to acquaint himself with that pink head, later.]
[Obedient dogs follow, and alphas lead. The clanhead keeps up appearances as he leads Kirma from the smoky lounge through the bar, down a narrow hallway that seemed as though it could lead to bathrooms or other back areas. At the very end of the hallways was a strange, fogged mirror- but KuroMisa stops before reaching that far down the hall, and instead chooses to lean against one of the creaky wooden walls.]
"Kuromine Misa" has a number of vested business interests in this lounge, [She begins dryly, her behavior like a switch; although her voice remains magically the clear, feminine voice of KuroMisa, gone was the elegant playfulness of a fine lady, turned dry and astringent with a distant, polite tone belonging to Matoba.] The next time you think to sniff someone who is concealing their face and voice, mutt, try to at least do it in a somewhat more private fashion.
[A pause, and Matoba leans, mannishly, against the wall. His arms cross.] You were dragged here by that charge of yours, I suppose? It isn't an especially rewarding place for those who lack skill in.... subtlety.
no subject
Should I have dragged you to the bathrooms, then. ( somehow, it doesn’t seem to him that would be very proper for miss misa, either. ) You didn’t exactly make it easy to confirm.
( which may have been the point. but what if matoba had a sister that had also experienced the same unfortunate encounter with a rake, and on the same side, and then a second unfortunate encounter in the baths— he has no way of knowing for sure, with everything else that’s in the resort. he simply hasn’t the time (well…) nor inclination for playing these games, whether they’re the ones offered by the casino itself or by its frequenters. )
Just say it plainly. I’m aware of my shortcomings—
( though at the reminder of his duty, he glances back over his shoulder, despite his dismissal of it just moments before. it’s not like they’ve left the place entirely, and any sound of trouble would surely reach his ears from here… )
… I’m sure your, her “business interests” are just fine.
